We are proud to announce the launch of the Diabetic Foot Australia website. This project is a key initiative of the Wound Management Innovation CRC and aims to address the silent epidemic of diabetic foot ulcers via a national clinical research diabetic foot network.
The Queensland-based team selected Clever Starfish because we have extensive experience in the health sector and due to the success of working with local providers in their network. We loved working with this team and as expected, distance was no problem thanks to Skype.
The site has only recently gone live but is still in early stages so stay tuned and be sure to sign up to their mailing list.
Who doesn’t like receiving gifts? What’s more, gifts packed full of foodie treats? Just In Time Gourmet’s products and hampers are truly divine and yes, we’re speaking from experience!
We had the privilege of working with this family business and owners Jodee and Justin Wearne to redesign and develop their new website. The existing site had been tarnished with black hat SEO and outsourcing by a local provider so Jodee and Justin very cautiously handed their baby over to us.
The new responsive website showcases some exciting features.
Our primary goal was to promote Just In Time Gourmet’s 3 core services: Individual Products, Hampers and Create Your Own Hampers. This was achieved by creating a primary and secondary navigation, you’ll see that the site actually has a quite a few pages but these have been streamlined into tidy menus all accessible from the home page. Customers are able to shop for one of these services or combine all three. The process of this is key and is explained quite simply on the Create Your Own Hamper page.
We cleverly transformed our cart and checkout system and created a super cart (My Order) that allows custom packages to be created. Customers can purchase individual hampers, customise Just In Time Gourmet hampers or create their own hampers. These orders are collated all within the My Order page and makes the ordering process nice and easy.
Also unique to Just In Time Gourmet’s checkout is the ability to send orders to numerous delivery addresses. This means that I can spoil myself with some truffles and create my own hamper with only the products that my family like in Melbourne – no olives, no crackers and definitely no turkish delights! The bonus is that my truffles will be delivered for free! because free shipping applies to orders within Perth Metro. Win win!
Ah, the beauty of Tentacle! It has the wonderful ability of adapting to our clients needs and means we can create the perfect solution for the day-to-day operation of any business. It makes life so easy and earns us lots of points – it’s out of the box hampers made easy!
We think you’ll agree, the website is beautifully designed and totally functional. We’d love to hear your thoughts but most of all we encourage you to visit the site, who knows this maybe the perfect gift for the next birthday, thank you or get well gift that you need to buy.
We’re super excited to launch the Style Mecca website today. Featuring an all Australian lineup of designers, including: Alessa, Anu, First Base, Sara Phillips and White Suede, Style Mecca celebrates Australian fashion!
With a background in marketing and a passion for fashion, Eloise brings a wealth of enthusiasm to the online market, engaging with socially savvy women on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Style Mecca has already captured an enviable pool of social followers – even before the site was live.
Our designer created a beautifully modern canvas to showcase Style Mecca’s unique designer brands. The website is a fantastic port of call for keeping up with the latest fashion trends in the blog, otherwise simply sign up and newsletters can come to you. The site wouldn’t be a great little online store without our very own Tentacle system – a full e-commerce facility that is harmoniously linked in with WordPress.
We have no doubts that Style Mecca will continue to share her fashion inspirations in a digital marketplace. Join the social clubs, shop online and keep up to date with the latest fashion trends by following Style Mecca.
Fresh Backup is the latest offering on Fresh Look IT’s Fresh Cloud service, and it’s so special that it gets its own landing page. If we’re going to get technical (which we love to do, of course) this is really a landing site—it’s powered by WordPress, with custom content sections so that the headings, text, product images and features can all be edited super easily. This is another collaboration with our stylish friends at The Globe, who created the awesome brand identity and design you see here.
Often we’ll try and get a themed LaunchCake to celebrate the site we’ve just launched, and as of last month we’ve expanded our tradition to incorporate ‘LiquidLaunchCake’. In this case, freshness was most definitely taken care of by these colour coordinated fruit smoothies from Java Juice. (Except for that white one…how did that get in there??)
Fresh Look IT have a solid history and well established client base, and are getting a brand identity makeover by our good friends at The Globe that is going to make them stand out from their competitors. While their full website is being created, this holding page (designed by The Globe) introduces the new branding and gives a web presence with a way to keep in touch. They’re certainly challenging the branding status quo in the professional IT services sector, and their new look is really…well, fresh.
Since we launched the holding page on the same day as Achievement Matters and The Globe, we decided having three LaunchCakes was a little bit ridiculous—even for us. To solve this problem, we came up with a variation on the LaunchCake concept.
In another collaboration with Marketforce, we are proud to launch the Decmil Australia website.
Decmil Australia has delivered specialist building and civil construction services to the oil, gas and resources industries for more than 30 years. As part of the wider Decmil Group Limited, their long held reputation is built on sound, professional and trusted relationships with their clients.
They commissioned Marketforce to freshen up their well-established brand a year ago. At the same time they noted that the website needed to be brought up to the same level. Our team met with the Marketforce designers, planners and account managers and went through the already completed print resources as well as the print style guides.
The final decision was made that they wanted to go with a fully responsive site that showcased the new colour palette and fonts.
This website has some fabulous features in WordPress including;
Responsive banner managers: The home and landing pages all feature banner managers where photos, text and links can be added by the client in a heartbeat. As long as the heart of the image is centralised – the whole banner will shrink and display appropriately on a tablet or smartphone. Check it out by grabbing the corner of the browser and shrinking the window.
Landing page templates: The website features dedicated landing page templates that allow the addition of feature boxes to promote pages within. This makes the site far easier to navigate, particularly when coupled with drop down navigation.
Blog: Although on the outset, a blog doesn’t seem to be a fabulous feature but in our experience it is one of the most vital parts of any website. After all, here you are reading ours.
Flexible content modules: In cases where you are dealing with designing and building a site with less than 30% of the content, flexible content modules are a saving grace. We had the responsibility of adding in the content for the first level pages and the rest was completed by Marketforce and the team at Decmil. Without allowing some flexibility, it is pretty easy for bumps in the road to lead to delays – particularly as content is the key to this website.
We celebrated this launch with a delighfully simple chocolate cake. Jayde, the lead on this project was in Melbourne and skyped in for LaunchCake but was unable to cut the cake long distance so our very talented designer, Trevor – cut the cake!
The launch of the BezDex website marks the first milestone in a journey that started with the founder asking himself a single question: “How can I simplify the process of understanding whether or not property investments are performing for those that aren’t so fabulous with numbers?” The answer to this question is undoubtedly, BezDex.
The product is the brainchild of the founder, who had worked in financial planning for years and faced the daily challenge of explaining property investments and returns to clients who found the concepts hard to grasp. Also, he had witnessed many cases where planners also found it terribly hard to communicate, even if their clients had a good understanding of their portfolio.
The solution was to plan and build a way that planners can enter and store their client data easily and then enable that same solution to produce simple, visual reports.
The product is set to hit the market next month and registrations of interest for financial planners and accountants as well as people who want to be referred to businesses using BezDex can now be done through the website.
Last year our team took a trip down south to say hello to the Fletcher team in their Dunsborough gallery after spending months on the phone. We felt it was about time we met in person! We already had a really appreciation of the beautiful photographic work of Christian Fletcher as it was great to be greeted so warmly in their stunning gallery.
Christian Fletcher’s original site was one of the earliest Tentacle stores. When we met with them we realised that they were beginning to grow out of the current version and wanted to take their online presence to the next level.
Christian Fletcher’s original site
Pretty quickly we got onto how we could look at improving the current site and it was pretty clear that they truly are innovators and love to lead the way. After the trip our team chatted about how we could address their needs and enable them to steer their business on a daily basis without us having to rely on us. They wanted control and we wanted to be able to give that to them.
We really do appreciate that they also let us run with some exciting features that we hope will make their site even easier to browse or buy a ‘Christian Fletcher’ that suits you.
All of these changes were not made lightly or at a whim. Our team spent a long time reviewing the popular sections of the site, listened to feedback from their team and other photographers who work closely with them. We didn’t want to make ‘change for change’s sake’ and hope that this is reflected in the new look.
Probably the biggest noticeable cosmetic change is that the site is now responsive, enabling purchasing, browsing and blog reading on the go. Visitors can also save their favourite images to the Wishlist and purchase from both the photography store and the gift store.
The site is not just about selling though and special care has been taken to consider first and foremost those who want to view images and read the latest happenings in the life of Christian Fletcher.
We will revisit this site in future blogs to explain further features including; gift vouchers, product pickup, room-view, coupons and how we approach responsive sites.
When MACRO Realty approached us to help them make their WordPress site more secure, we refreshed the site design as well, simplifying the site structure, making the footer more useful, and adding more dynamic content to the home page with feature boxes, blog previews and upcoming events. The site also includes a custom FAQ section and automatic property listing feeds.
Each landing page has customisable feature boxes to highlight certain sub pages for visitors.
As MACRO regularly hosts educational seminars for investors, we created a custom event module for showing upcoming seminars, linked directly to their Eventbrite page for booking.
While normally we go for large cakes, this time our LaunchCake was ironically micro as a few of the starfishes weren’t at the office. Our selection from French patisserie Jean Pierre Sancho consisted of chocolate tart, blueberry & almond tart, and gateau au chocolat—all of which were delicious!
XciteLogic has launched their new responsive website which showcases their new MySchoolDay App. The site features a touch enabled banner manager and sign up form which invites principals and teachers to request a demo of MySchoolDay. The MySchoolDay App enables parents and teachers to interact directly with their school administration, events, news and resources. This creates a sharing environment for all users. Well done XciteLogic!
The Foundation runs many fund raising events throughout the year so an event calendar was an essential addition. By adding an physical address in the WordPress, a google map preview is automatically generated for the event.
What a busy (and rainy) week it has been here at the Department of Starfisheries. Yesterday we launched a ‘fresh’ and new site for Access Circus, the social arm of Western Australian circus and entertainment company, Fliptease. The idea grew out of social circus programs that she had been running in regional Western Australia.
Fliptease had been working independently with the education system, youth at risk and indigenous youth since 2004 and the development of a separate business dedicated to this kind of work was a natural step. The new site features improved galleries, a blog and more integrated social…as pictured below!
We celebrated this launch with cupcakes brought in by Renee and Alex that were made by the team at Kustom Cupcakes. We love that she brought her own launch cake in for the team and wow, they were delicious!
