In the past few weeks, three of our photographer clients have launched some big competitions. So we thought we’d give ‘em a hand and let you all know about them too.
Christian Fletcher has a competition open to non-professional, enthusiast photographers. And you have to shoot landscapes. It’s an unusual competition, in that only 500 entries are allowed. You can enter as many times as you like, but as soon as the 500 limit has been reached, that is it! For more information hit up his web site here, here for more details, and here for information on one of the awesome prizes.
Animal art photographers Zoo Studio have been nominated for the 4th Annual Paws and Claws Award. To celebrate, they are running their own competition. For every person who votes for Zoo Studio, given it’s a people’s choice award, an entry goes into their own competition. And what can you win? A huge Canon EOS 1000D and some private training. Wow!
Finally, Alex Cearns, also an animal photographer, is running a competition on her Facebook page. All you have to do is email in a photo of a pet, taken by you. The prize is really cool too: a metallic print of one of Alex’s multi-award-winning photographs. For more details, visit her site and have a read.
We love it when we see our clients engaging with their audiences like this. The only thing we wonder, is whether any of the Starfishies are eligible to enter…

When Dave and I were looking for a new graphic designer for the Starfish team, we were looking for someone who had real artistic talent. We had quite a few job applications to get through, and we were very interested in the additional skills of each applicant – how they expressed their creativity outside of web design.
Levi’s initial application was a little brief, but what caught our attention was his passion for photography. Anyone can snap away with a camera or phone, but Levi’s photographic eye combined with his technical skills make his photographs really special.
Check out some of his shots below. You can also view Levi’s Flickr stream for more.

Long time Starfish client Jay Heifetz has launched a new web site to highlight a particularly specialty of his: bottle – and particularly wine bottle – photography.
The new site has a similar layout to his existing Heifetz Photography web site, but is branded Bottleshots. It shows off the top quality commercial wine bottle work that Jay is known for, as well as including some of his mouth-watering food shots.
Jay uses the Slideshow Pro Directory software to manage the web site galleries on both sites. Both sites also feature a client login area, where Jay’s clients can see galleries from their shoots.

Tony Warrilow has a formidable reputation as one of Australia’s top wedding photographers. After more than ten years at Society Photography in Mosman, New South Wales, he has made a move to Margaret River in Western Australia and launched a new studio, Unity.
Tony’s new site is just a beginning – a blog and contact details – with galleries and more information to come later. The design is clean and minimalist to allow Tony’s work to shine. We look forward to working with him to expand on his site in the future.
