Big Sky for a big state

The newest Clever Starfish creation to go live is Big Sky Entertainment. This innovative new company books top professional cabaret, comedy, music and theatre acts for corporate events, and on tour in regional Western Australia, focusing on the mining and industrial sector.

The site uses bright reds and oranges on dark earthy tones for a really striking look. WordPress is used for content and news management, and our own Tentacle product management system again makes an appearance for maintaining the shows. Not only does each show have a description, but also detailed cast information and photo galleries as well as an enquiry form with a calendar showing the available dates. Like most of our sites, this one is hosted by the excellent people at Fasthit.

The Big Sky Entertainment team were a pleasure to work with and we wish them all the best.

Pipani store launches

Our newest online shop was designed by the lovely people at Comverj, and it’s as cute as a button! Pipani is a new Western Australian company specialising in clothing for women and children who dress modestly for religious reasons, but don’t want to look frumpy and boring.

The sites uses a combination of a WordPress-powered backend for content management, and our own Tentacle product management system for the shopping cart. Payments are processed in real time by eWAY, and it’s all hosted by the helpful people at Fasthit.

Making web sense with Greensense

Knowing that we specialise in WordPress web sites, our good friends at Eduka passed this lead along. Greensense are a local environmental consultancy who had been using a WordPress blog that they had set up themselves for a couple of years. The content on the Greensense blog is a textbook-perfect example of how corporate blogging should be done – regular, timely and topical posts that are both informative and interesting. However, the free theme that the site was using for look and feel wasn’t meeting the company’s needs, so Fabian and Peter decided it was time their web site got a facelift, along with some professional copywriting for their corporate information pages. That’s where Clever Starfish came in.

We designed a new WordPress theme for Greensense, and helped them make their WordPress installation search engine friendly and easier for them to manage. We also worked with their chosen copywriter to work just the right amount of text into the design. The end result is simple and quite subtle but suits the feel of the company perfectly. We also set them up with our Starfish Send newsletter system, which allows easy subscription management and beautiful branded email newsletters.

If you’re interested in climate change or just want to see an example of good corporate blogging, check out the Greensense web site and blog.
