New Phenomenon Event Services web site

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Phenomenon are a Creative Event Services company in Perth, offering corporate video, wedding video, various event production services (event theming, multimedia, set design etc) and a great online Prop Shop. For their new web presence, they wanted something with sizzle that would reflect the excitement they bring to their clients’ events.

Clever Starfish put together a fun site to fit the brief, using the funky colours in Phenomenon’s branding to code the different areas of the business. Video samples are used to show off samples of Phenomenon’s work, and the online Prop Shop allows “do it yourself” customers to browse and arrange hire of any of thousands of items to make their next event extra special.

St George and the Dragon Sculpture Commission

The St George’s Cathedral Sculpture Project has launched! This exciting art commission invites artists from around Australia and around the world to submit concepts for a sculpture, which once commissioned will be positioned in front of the newly restored St George’s Cathedral, on St George’s Terrace in the centre of Perth’s CBD.

Clever Starfish built the web site for the project, and we’re excited to be involved with something that will have such a lasting impact on the landscape of our city.

For this project, Clever Starfish designer Levi Buzolic took a range of photographs around the Cathedral, including some fantastic panoramas of the grounds. These were used in the masthead Flash animation, along with video messages from the Dean, Dr John Shepherd (on the home page), and the Lord Mayor Perth, Lisa Scaffidi (on the About Perth page). The end result is very striking!

Once the initial concepts have been received, the submitted images will be displayed on the site and will be open to a public vote. You can sign up to the Sculpture Project Newsletter (on the right hand side of each page on the site, towards the bottom) to be notified when voting opens.

Billy’s Day Care for Dogs now operational

One of the great things about being a small team is that we get to work on interesting and fun projects! Billy’s Day Care for Dogs definitely fits into this classification.

Day care centres for dogs, where people can leave their beloved pets to be cared for and exercised while they are at work, are quite common in the USA but a relatively new concept in Australia. Rebecca Vary wanted to run the kind of facility where she would be comfortable leaving her own canine friend – a cage-free, clean and safe environment where dogs can play and relax with others under the supervision of people who really know dogs.

Rebecca needed a web site that would be easy to update which would give potential clients a good overview of what dog day care is all about – and that’s where Clever Starfish came in. We created a site with a fun, informal feel (and lots of puppy photos) which Rebecca can update herself using Adobe Contribute.

After a long application and appeals process with the council, Billy’s Day Care for Dogs is now open for business in Belmont. We wish Rebecca and Pokey (pictured above) the very best in their new business.
