Crime Stoppers WA website wins state website award and makes the finals for the Australian Web Awards in ‘Not For Profit’ Category

Last night at Spacecubed, the Crime Stoppers WA website was announced as a finalist in the ‘Not For Profit’ category of the Australian Web Awards.

Crime Stoppers WA came to us last year looking for a new website that would allow them to;

  • balance the support role provided for WA Police whilst establishing that Crime Stoppers WA is an independent not-for-profit organisation serving the community.
  • provide a way to encourage both online reports and phone calls to help solve crimes.
  • establish their position as a not-for-profit organisation.
  • clearly explain who they are and what they do.
  • clearly explain the kind of crimes that Crime Stoppers work in preventing and solving alongside the relevant authorities.
  • define crime types and provide prevention tips.
  • provide a clear pathway to the online reporting form and explain when it should be used.
  • make reporting phone number easily accessible and educate users on when to use it.
  • increase opportunities for community to engage with Crime Stoppers as a volunteer or advocate or sponsor.
  • increase exposure for sponsors across the site.
  • ensure the site worked across all devices.
  • Ensure the brand is positioned to communicate directly with community members in Western Australia.
  • encourage action from the community by reporting suspicious activity.
  • encourage action from the community by reporting information that relates to the open cases.
  • encourage participation from kids in school years 7, 8 and 9 via the competition entry.

We freshened and updated the look, feel, content and structure with the result for the client has been a huge lift in engagement, reports and positive recognition.

As quoted by Mara from Tinderbox, one of our collaborators, “It takes a village to build a website” and for this site it couldn’t be truer. We couldn’t have delivered such an outstanding website without the collaboration of;

  • Tinderbox Creative for the Graffiti Action Challenge sub site and brand and for Crime Stoppers Week materials.
  • The Write Words for written content and advice us on photos, where relevant.
  • Fasthit for security planning, execution and ongoing monitoring.

It’s been an award-winning week for Crime Stoppers WA, as they were also presented with 5 media awards at the Crime Stoppers International conference. Awesome work!

The national web awards will be held later in the year, so stay tuned.

Introducing the Brand New Responsive Sugar Blue Burlesque Websites

We are pleased to announce some of the most intricately detailed work we have done yet has now launched!

Sugar Blue Burlesque is a performance troupe and a burlesque academy that was established in 2007. They have a great looking brand identity and fabulous photos but their previous site did not show this. Clever Starfish worked with the director of the company Melanie Piantoni (aka A’dora Derriere) to rejuvenate and responsify the burlesque websites as well as being able to better manage the addition of shows, products in the store, performer profiles, academy classes and blogs. Our solution to managing all of the things was to split Sugar Blue Burlesque’s offerings into three sites.

  • Sugar Blue Burlesque – For performer management, bookings of dance troupes, featuring events and purchasing products
  • Sugar Blue Academy – For course management and the sale of drop in classes, courses and workshops
  • Sugar Blue Blog – For showing off their latest news and performer blogs

These sites were all built on WordPress and our custom catalogue/e-commerce platform Tentacle for store products and academy courses. The sites have been designed and developed to provide a user experience with subtle animations, punches of colour and detailed imagery – Refresh the home page to see the girls in the header change!

The Sugar Blue site really showcases the talent behind Sugar Blue Burlesque which includes some internationally recognised performers. We have developed glamourous profile pages for each performer that shows off their videos and photo gallery, linked to all of their performances, latest blog, tweets, courses and acts they are associated with. Have a look yourself at the lady in charge of Sugar Blue—Adora Derriere—and see what acts she performs in.

Sugar has a gorgeous new shop featuring products made locally in Australia and in Europe, including items designed exclusively for Sugar Blue Burlesque. Need a gift for someone who has everything? Do they have a Sugar Blue Burlesque voucher? No? We didn’t think so. You can buy them to use in the shop and for academy courses right on the site.

Want to know the ins and outs of what has been happening in Sugar Blue? Have a look at the blog and browse by topic or Author to see what your favourite Burlesque star has been talking about. Sugar Blue Burlesque BLOG screenshot

Ever dreamt of being a burlesque star yourself? The Burlesque Academy offers a huge selection of courses to get you shimmying, shaking, undulating, bumping, grinding, wiggling, jiggly twirling and swirling through classic burlesque moves. Be a Burlesque megastar for the day by enrolling in one of the many burlesque make up classes where you will be transformed into a vintage pinup in the morning for a professional glamour photography session in the afternoon. Use the filter to find the course that suits you. You can filter by course type, location, course name, location, teacher and course level.

Mondolaunche Quattro!

Last week was high-end lighting supplier Mondoluce’s 18th birthday, and to celebrate they not only threw a party, but launched three new brands and websites plus a dedicated blog.

Mondoluce Metalight Mialuce brand sites

Beautiful and functional—just the way it should be

We worked closely with Mondoluce’s branding partner The Globe, establishing a site architecture and browsing experience that would allow users to find lighting fixtures by usage, brand, product and project type. From the industry audience feedback we’ve received, this functionality—combined with The Globe’s slick design—has made their task of sourcing lighting a whole lot easier!

Una grande famiglia

Mondoluce now has three distinct brands in their family; Mondoluce, Metalight, and Mialuce. The three brand sites and Illuminati blog are all separate domains, but are conveniently managed together using WordPress Multisite and a custom Tentacle catalogue system.

Tentacle handles brands, products, projects, downloads and filtering options, ensuring content is always displayed neatly and consistently. Everything is managed from the one interface, and can be set to show on any of the three brand sites.

Effortlessly fresh

With the exception of the featured banner images, everything you see on each home page is generated automatically from product, project, news and brand content, meaning minimal effort is required to keep it looking fresh.

LaunchCake is yet to be eaten on this one because we were too busy eating tapas at the LaunchParty to plan it! Watch this space for a followup blog…
